Article–"Working with Kryptonite"

Forgot to tell you guys last week that The High Calling published an article of mine, "Working with Kryptonite."

It talks about my struggle to make my work about serving others rather than serving myself.

Hope you find it encouraging!

The High Calling article

I have an article up at The High Calling, "Tuning Your Ear to God’s Perfect Pitch."

Mused Literary Journal

My story, Mumbai Baby, is featured in the Winter Solstice 2007 issue of Mused Literary Review.
This story is close to my heart because it’s the second short story I
wrote in the beginning of my journey (although what you’ll read has
been through numerous rewrites!), and the first story I loved.
It’s an online journal, so feel free to hop on over there!

Published Articles

Three new articles coming out, for those of you interested:

  • A creative nonfiction piece, "My Scarlet Letter" in Three One Six: A Journal of Christian Thinking. Also in this issue are articles by blogging buddies Mike Duran, Erin Teske, and Sandra Glahn.
  • "Spiritual
Disciplines: Practicing Daily Scales," which looks at practical ways to
intertwine spiritual disciplines in your life. This article will be in
the Spring ’08 issue of Just Between Us, a magazine for women in professional or lay leadership.
  • "’Tis the Season": a look at the origin of some of our Christmas traditions in fwd Magazine, a quarterly magazine put out by my church.

Tomorrow, I’ll give you a sneak peek into some of those fun Christmas origins.

The High Calling article

“I don’t deserve to be treated like this,” the patient yelled at me.
Neither did I.
“If the doctor is running late, I should be called.
Don’t you know that I have better things to do with my time?”
Didn’t he know that I had better things to do with mine?
These days, liberal arts degrees are used more often to answer phones than to wax Shakespearean. Many find contentment and meaning in their job is a rare thing indeed. In fact, Paul describes contentment as a secret, something not everyone comes by.

Today, I have an article up at The High Calling, an ezine dedicated to encourage believers to see their work as valued by God and as glorifying to God. You can read the rest of the article, "God’s Secret to Contentment at Work," here.

Heather Jamison Interview

I had the opportunity to interview Heather Jamison, author and missionary in Africa, for Kindred Spirit. She works with Adopt A Legacy to incarnate God’s love to orphans.

“In a nation with millions of orphans and abandoned children, it would be
difficult not to get involved with orphans,” Heather says, “especially in light
of God’s teaching us that true religion is looking after the orphans and the
widows.”

In the interview, "The Cause of the Orphan," you can find out more about her work and how you can contribute.

Published!

Yay for me! I’m published. Go check it out: Matt and Marnie Sittin’ In a Tree Or Something Like That at Infuze. Yes, I know. It’s the world’s longest title.

Article at Bible.org

Yeah! I am officially published. Bible.org published my article, "A Literary Analysis on the Book of Ruth."
On another note, I saw Requiem for a Dream the other night. Wow. Depressing. They go through summer, fall, and winter. But there was no spring! No glimmer of hope! No redemptive aspect. I think it should be a requirement for every high schooler to see this movie.
