Incarnating Christ's Love in Art and Life

 

 

 

 

In Your Story

God calls all believers to a heroic adventure. Some of us are reluctant, some flawed, some inexperienced. God desires to work in and through us. Topics include studies on biblical stories and characters and how we respond to the call in our story.

In Beauty

Created in the image of God, we have the capacity to create. Art can be used to reflect our Creator and our relationship with Him. Topics look at how art and theology intersect and how we can use art to incarnate Christ's truth.

As the Church

As the Body of Christ, the Church represents Jesus on earth and continues his work. Topics include the purpose of the Church in the world and the purpose of the church in your neighborhood.

This Morning, Part Deux

Two things I want to continue from this morning:

First, the speaking was plain, old-fashioned fun, especially the eighth and ninth graders. We went through the hero's journey (using Wizard of Oz), then we used it to come up with our own plot. The kids will take those bones and write their story, adding ligaments and tendons and muscles and flesh and all that jazz. I can't wait to hear how they turn out next week. These kids have talent. The story? A beagle has to save his parents from a mad scientist.

Memories, in the corner of my mind

I used to remember things. Whole paragraphs I'd tuck into a pot in the back of my mind without needing to write them down. They'd simmer and, when, ready, I'd collect them, full of spices melding flavors.
Now, I have an idea for a post, and by the time I type in the URL, poof! It's gone.
I make a better magician than an historian.
No matter. I plug ahead.

Straight on toward Morning

This past weekend, the fairy dust took me to East Texas, where I taught a women's retreat. You know, at first, I wasn't too excited about the topic, the Bride of Christ, but in preparation, I discovered all the love, hope, and unity, not just between the Church (the bride) and Christ, but between members of the Church, and it moved and inspired me. God worked this weekend, as He loves to do when we open up our hearts. For those of you who were praying, thank you.
